Church of Contemplation of Santa Maria Madalena or of the Converted

Church of Contemplation of Santa Maria Madalena or of the Converted

It’s a baroque style building, with walls in whitewashed stone masonry and granite stonework in the wall-corners, cornices, spires and façades. It also presents the stone of weapons of D. Rodrigo and a gathering symbol.

The building is divided into two floors which round a U shape courtyard, with cells and service compartments. The front façade, where the entrances of the chapel and the gathering are placed, is marked by a rectangular turret, possibly added in a posterior period.  The chapel, of rectangular plan, is composed by a single aisle, choir with oratory, chancel and sacristy. The aisle walls are covered in tiles of single figures, and the ceiling, made of wood, is painted with angels and hagiological elements. At the center of the presbytery it was erected the Baroque altarpiece with gilded wood.
