Parochial church of S. Salvador

Parochial church of S. Salvador

According to the tradition, the church of S. Salvador was sent build in the late XVI by the Archbishop of Braga D. Pedro de Castro, also known as Frei Agostinho de Jesus, being posteriorly integrated into the landlord of the Benedictine convent of Vitorino das Donas. The primordial structure was severely changed in the XVIII century, in a construction that gave it the façade in baroque style, full of decorative counter-curved motifs, where the bell tower stands out as it occupies almost the same volume as the church. The interior displays an original division of the space, with a central aisle a lateral aisle on the right side, separated by round arches resting on columns with evidence of the painting of brutesques motifs.
