House of Biscaínhos

Built in the XVII century, and enlarged in the following century, the House of Biscaínhos (Casa dos Biscaínhos) was kept in the possession of the same family until 1963, year in which it was sold to a public organism, which has installed there the Museum, opened on 11th February 1978. The museum structure takes advantage of the propriety possibilities, allowing, then, the revelation of the noble quotidian of the north of the county, in the baroque period. They expose, mainly, decorative arts, in a direct contextualization, “provided by the original organist and ornamental wealth of the Manor House, creating a sequence of spaces suggesting the livability of the past: the Great Hall, Office-Library, the Speaker´s Platform Rooms, the Oratory, Music and Game, the Dining Hall, the Stables, Kitchen and Gardens” (Museu dos Biscaínhos, RPM).
