Roman thermae of Maximinos

Roman thermae of Maximinos

Built between the I and the III a. C. centuries during the Flavin urbanistic renewal of the old Bracara Augusta, this monumental thermal complex is located in the superior platform on the hill of Maximinos, in the highest place in the city. Being the only building with public characteristics identified so far in the excavated perimeter of this important Roman city. Even though it's original outline hasn’t been completely excavated, the investigations performed so far allows us to say that we are in front of a building object to some structural modifications, since the moment of its construction – I a. C. century – until the time its usage was abandoned, already in plain V a. C. century, a time when the Roman Empire of the West was collapsing.
