The winning projects of the Participatory Budget 2017 are already known and will be implemented next year, with 750 000 euros that the City Council of Braga has allocated to this active citizenship initiative.
This edition of the PB was the one with the highest number of voters, with 10,837 inhabitants of Braga deciding the winning projects from the dozens of projects in the various fields of municipal intervention: ecology, environment and energy; tourism, trading and economic promotion; equipment and public spaces; culture and heritage; solidarity and social cohesion; and traffic, mobility, accessibility and road safety, all of them to be held in the various civil parishes of the city.
Once Braga belongs to all and everybody has something to say about the construction of a better present and future, the Municipality of Braga has been developing projects to encourage the exercise of citizenship and participation in municipal policies, of which we can stand out the School Participatory Budget (100 000 euros), integrated in the PB 2017 and intended to Braga’s educational establishments; the budget "YOU DECIDE", directed to young people and co-managed by the Municipality of Braga and the Youth Municipal Council; and, also theproject "We Propose" promoted, sponsored and coordinated by the University of Lisbon (CEG-IGOT), which is aiming to combine the curriculum need of Geography A in the 11th year to the desire of promoting a wider and more conscious public participation in decision-making procedures concerning land use planning, in particular in the context of the Review of the municipal director plan..
