Veliko Tarnovo is the third most important Bulgarian city, having been the capital of the country in the 19th century. It is a Northern City of Bulgaria and administrative center of the province with the same name. Once known as the city of the Czars, it is an important cultural, economic and administrative center of Bulgaria and, as Braga, has a historical importance in the country and known as the city of many churches.
It has about 100 thousand inhabitants and is home to the second most important University of the country, the University of Saint Cyril and Methodius of Veliko Turnovo, and the National Military University of Vasil Levski. As an economic center, it´s known for its industries of electronics, textiles, plastics and food industry.
Veliko Tarnovo is also one of the most important tourist centers of Bulgaria, because of its historical and cultural importance
