Sacred Art, is we shall point out, a specific area within the Art circuit. It simultaneously belongs and transcends Art due to its inherent spiritual nature. In Sacred Art, as in all kinds of Art, the creator is an important factor, which gives origin to Sacred Art – in which the shapes are not perfect – and Nobel (Classical) Art which reveals the artist’s excellent work. In churches we can find pieces of both values and the popular pieces have sometimes an added value due to their rarity and authenticity. 

We must consider the artworks, regardless of their author and origin and, if any popular piece is removed from the public cult, it should be carefully delivered to the Museu da Catedral (Cathedral’s Museum) or to the Museu Pio XII (Pio XII Museum), which belong to the Igreja Arquidiocesana Bracarense (Archdiocese Church of Braga), nonetheless, it will still be a property of the parish where it came from and will be protected from any contingency.
