Braga’s handicraft is one of the most popular Portuguese handicrafts all over the world: the “cavaquinhos”, a kind of small guitar, the guitars, forged iron pieces imitating ancient pieces, the linen articles, the embroidery, the basket-making, mostly the wicker pieces, the wooden miniatures, “farricocos”, the costume jewellery and the dolls in regional clothing.
There are various options. We may start with the characteristic porcelain from Braga, which captivates us by its attractive colours and shapes. There are also varied wooden miniatures.
Next, we can find the “farricocos”,(which are to be seen during the Holly Week) made by skilful craftsmen who like showing traditions and customs. However, the handicraft which is more characteristic of this city refers to the “cavaquinhos” and the guitars as they remain handmader. |
